Just to be annoying casting real shadows would follow simple rules too I think just a bunch of similar triangles.Dunno if it takes longer doesn't take too long if you use a program with layers like Graphics Gale..
Yeah I was only talking about the top tank bottom one looks fine.
I'm using what I call "drop down shadowing" for the bottom tank. This "drop down shadowing" does not exsiste in the real world. Its a drop down shadow. Drop down, as in you take the object you have and make a copy of it and make it flat. Color it all one shade with no lines, just a solid flat cut out. then you place it under the object creating a Drop down shadow. Its a very simple. The above tank is using the same techniqe but you push the shadow to the side and fill in the gaps. I'm capable of creating real shadows. But the ones that I have displayed above, follow rules and are easier and use less time to create than real shadows. Sorry that I have confused you. :]
I never learnt the reflected light thing properly (i'm not 100% sure guess doing a 3d render would be best way to see) but i dont see why light would get there (place on tank where turret casts shadow) and not the sides (of the tank and turret). shouldn't it be the same color then.
why would it go darker as you go down. wouldn't it be brighter if the ground was reflecting light onto it?
also the shadow cast by the tank on the ground confuses me a little when i tried drawing lines but i didn't notice it in the beginning so its not a problem. technically shouldn't the line from the top of the antenna to the shadow on the ground have the same angle as the line from the edge of the big gun to the ground?
-_- I could't help but to awnser your question. I know all about proper shadow "rendering" but desided to have the shadow one color. Just to make it simple. And yes, the turret shadow sould be darker, the shadow under the tank would also get a little darker near the very bottom of the tank. I was just trying to save colors. Maybe a few tons of grey and such would be needed, but I wanted to keep it farly simple. Btw (I could use both pixel joint and deviant art, but I havent used this site in a while so I'm not sure if I wanna get back into it.) Enjoy the new year :D
should the shadow cast by the turret be the darker color not the midtone? nice tank btw
This is pretty good! Too bad your leaving, you have some pixeling talent... Have fun on Deviant Art!
I just like to follow rules when doing ico pixelating, thats all. Must be correct!!! lol. (why do I feel a impulse to keep typing.... -__- Cheerio, my good chum.
