now, after i've seen the second version, i think you could add some highlights if you still want to work more on it.
I love this idea, I think there is so much more that you could do with this piece though, it has a lot of potential. I checked the DA version, you said you were aiming for a 3D look, if the smoke is meant to come from his nostrils then the right hand-side smoke would overlap part of the face slightly, I think. I do love this, super design 
I guess so. I was always more of the simple type, but I also like to add details, so I might revamp this and add to it. Thanks for the critique.
Nice volume and shading, but it looks unfinished.
Could use more pixel-level detailing: highlights, textures.
