Well, selout is just anti-aliasing to a dark background. So if you do it and don't have a dark background, it looks weird.
I use selout because it's just what I'm used to. I don't like making the outline just one solid color and I don't know any other methods.
Cute! I think it's a bit muddy, though--try smoothing out some of the highlights and using a palette that's a little more vibrant. Also, yeah, if you're gonna use selout, maybe put it on a darker background instead of leaving it transparent.

In some places, the hairlines need to be a bit more consistant, but thats just about it
PJ doesn't allow background that don't make sense, and I suck at backgrounds so I just make it transparent. It looks fine to me but I'm using a dark pj theme.
