.... when ever i had the chance to name my aeon/gf... I would always name them after std's or crude names..... ifrit was always peeburn <3 lol...he...he was my favorite <3
I'm glad you didn't leave out some of teh small fur details, sometimes people forget D: good job!
@ Randommonkies: I can never get enough of FF summoning scenes
back on topic:
I found a way to imply the upward movement , I just used some meteor pieces and it passed the silhouette test. I also repixeled the hair and the horn.
@ Death-Auron: Regarding the proportions I don't know if that impression is created through the pov in the video, but I'm almost sure that Ifrit's legs are shorter than his arms. I'll reduce the necklength though.
About the light source, yeah you're right the meteor should be considered too.
I think the real problem here are proportions, that seem really off. the legs seems to be extremely short, and the neck too long, I suggest you to study a little bit of proportions. compare him to a human body and youll understand what i mean. Also, the lightsource should actually be the meteor itself but the light seems to come from up the character rather than under him.
oh ya, I spent waay too many hours seeing that summon sequence.
I did the silhouette test and yeah you're right there is nothing left indicating the upward movement.
I started replaying the video multiple times and found nothing but the fire, since Ifrit is totally motionless during the meteor lift ride, so I'm gonna give the fire a sharper angel and I also found some othe things that need to be reworked.
here is the video in case you didin't see it

Oh and the side view was just a personal challenge, since I never pixeled anything from the side view before.
there doesn't seem to be a lot of information that makes it seem like he is hurtling upwards.
Basically I think its going to be pretty hard to communicate the pose and action with a straight side profile and a cropped meteorite.
The silhouette test is always a good thing to do: if every thing is black, can you still get a sense of what is going on?
Could you please be more specific about the arms, are you talking about his right forearm, cause that one is supposed to go into the picture and thus may create the impression of being a stub.
Regarding the pose I was going for the part of the summoning scene where Ifrit stands on the meteor, which is floating upwards.
I tried to imply the upward movement through the fire.
arms seem really stumpy, and I think the pose could be a lot more dynamic.
I always thought about animating the "meteor strike" attack, but I'm currently working on some other pixel art maybe one day I'll make an animation
That's certainly a creative way to name the aeons/gfs
My favourite gf was Diabolos.
Thx for the compliment.
