Thanks!
Actually it looks rather randomly grainy on the present default theme, as I explained in my former comment it was supposed to be viewed on the former lighter theme. I would keep working on it if it didn't take so damnedly much time.
Clever use of transparency there, good sir.
I have a special place in my heart for 1-bit art, having grown up on one of those ancient macs that offered a very modern-sized pixel, but just black and white (512x386 9inch screen). There were some games back then, especially Silicon Beach stuff, that just had some amazing pixel work.
I didn't realize how amazing this was until I switched to the Pixelation theme.
Lovely work :)
Looks pretty cool :D
I like the scales and the way it moves.
I couldn't see the bubbles til I changed themes. Very interesting use of transparency.
Gahaha what an idiot. You got me alright, how did I not realize that! Good one.
hey! this is great... now that i see it with the transparency shading its even more impressive! good job man!
Nice one manupix! but the animation is a little bit crappy :S
Thanks everybody! =)
@ RK: my thought exactly when uploading... thanks mods!
@ Shannon: aww... caught your early comment! will you marry me?
@ Mathias: looks like it's working then, gotcha!
@ Manjaman: lots, but less than Flying Rat. About 1 day? :S
Still, it could have used more. =<8//
Anim is not that fluid, 2 more frames would be needed at each end of the move. Cheated with frametimes instead, never the best fix. I've made the black texture fit as well as possible between frames, but I've left white random. Not so bad on light themes, but it must be a problem on dark ones. Could have shaded better with some 'grey' on the left side. And mostly, the mouth anim was supposed to be out of phase with the body movement, but ended up almost in phase.
I'll probably make a color still version.
O.O dude ! That's impresive ! How many hours of work to obtain this (amazing) result ? 6/6+favd
Manu's entries will be voted for by me because he use trans effectively! ;P
that isn't grey, it's transparency which is showing up as grey since I'm assuming you're using a theme which has grey as trasparent. I'll be honest it's a clever idea a lot of people have used for this challenge...
anyway great pixel, the work you put into this shows and you pulled off the animation well!
Nice!
Too bad the grey will disqualify you. #FFFFFF, #000000 and trans only I'm afraid.
Definitely gets my vote, and probably my only one too.
edit:// sure haha:P I'm still kicking myself a little bit because it took me way too long to realize that it was the theme + transparency that made it look like theres a dark grey bridge between colors- it looks very good on a dark bg:P I just kept thinking 'how the hell did you do that with black and white' You tricked me, haha. Great job!
idk how it would be an original sprite but i loved it :D
FWIW, the theme I'm on has #676767 as the background color, which seems pretty close to a halfways point between white and black. I just checked, and yeah, that's the new default theme.
I see what you mean by the dither patterns looking nicer on the old theme; nevertheless I do find it quite impressive.
