wow this is really good stuff! i recomend making the shadow "fade out" more and also, as said before, change the head. please understand that this is only a minor crit I really do love it. !

That's some solid pixeling! The only crit I have is that the shell on it's back is too perfect and smooth... maybe add some slight perturbation to the surface or maybe some detail in the reflection (well I'm guessing it's reflective from the hints of green on it)... so for example, I would imagine that some tree or foiliage is reflecting against the surface it wouldn't look so perfect/smooth.
I so badly want to rip these leaves for my paintbugs.
Agree that the bug's head is not in style nor scale nor awesomness.

I love the colors and the contrast between mechanical and organic. This could use a bit more polish, like some subtle texturing within the bug's shadow and the AA is rough in places. Otherwise, very well done!
You really should change the head of the insect, to me it ruins the piece... which is gorgeous.
