The shading is great, and I love how well R2D2 is done, but you could make a background and some texture in the sand the shading on some of their faces make them look like apes

@ Sterner Regnix - Change the shadings on their faces so they dont look like monkeys as Flarfy said. Maybe a more interesting background and this would be pretty decent ;D
Could use a LOT of work. Especially on the face. The Jawa's probably the only decent one in the picture. Sorry, dude, but it ain't that good.

something about the shading in their faces makes them look a bit monkey-like. Besides that I like this very much 
I like the idea of a game of this type.
I am not a fan of the placement of the titles though. Star Wars Tactics is inset on the left side and "Press Start" is offset on the right ... it feels unbalanced. I'd put R2 into the scene with them, put the STAR WARS TACTICS over their heads, and put the PRESS START at the bottom (or if you want several options like "new game" "load game" etc and maybe a little R2 next to suggest the current choice.
Anyway just some ideas ... I like it so far!
