Nice, clear and readable sprites. Looking forward to seeing the animations.
Yeah the eyes are the way they are because it's sort of a fighter game, so he is actually looking out to the side. Yeah I know, it's realy weird :P. I just felt like doing an interesting style and pose to the sprites.
I agree with asukicco... also you need to put the eyes in a better perspective...
Anyway the character looks great!
