Just keeping it simple by using the mid brown tone to give a sense of muscle. The lines on the original drawing looked randomly placed to make muscles, which aren't there on a real human. I'm aware that your drawing a powerful character, but even in these example (not the best pics I know...)

..it's more of simple toning of the colour.

This is a nice character.....

.......but it would be even nicer if the muscles weren't so out of place. It's worth checking out a ref for muscle placement and creases in clothing.

Yeah a lot of people are afraid of having purple on them but not this guy. If you got a prob talk to him, I'm sure he could give you two good reasons why he likes it. HAHAHAHAHA!
