Rough edges are rough.  Try adding some anti-aliasing (AA) so the edges don't look so rough and jagged :)

The same goes for your cat piece.  Many of the lines are jagged, and simply cleaning up the lines would make them look a lot smoother.

The dolphin should be bigger in proportion to the mermaid too.  A generally nice piece ;)
