This place exists, its located in greece. I thought its a great place and started to pixel it, I used ps and different selfmade brushes to make some uncommon dithering, well it turned out to be even more work because I had to fix a lot of ugly patterns so I had to do some areas twice. As always my shading turned out to look somehow crispy dirty, the way I like it. My reference pic:

Its not taken by me, I was never there. I didnt hang on the original to much, because I wanted it to look more interesting.
Its a orthodox  monastery I think. The monk may not fit, but I dont know how orthodox monks look like.

I googled some pics of the real place and it's crazy! It looks like they'll fall off the rocks

I must also know! How the heck do they get up there????

The piece is nice, although some stuff don't look very good...the woods for example. What I especially like is the texture on the rocks...even if it's too "crispy" in some places, it gives a very realistic feeling.

Sweet, but 128 colors is a lot.

That is beautiful detail, you should come do tiles or other graphics for a new game I am making :-)

I am very surprised at how well the rocks and cliffs turned out!

Hmm, I've seen these before.  These are the monasteries in meteora (hence the monk *smacks self in head*).  I found a picture of the real thing here: http://www.peakbagging.com/Greece/Meteora.jpg

I still can't BELIEVE that you do this by hand.  The textures are so amazing they look like you ran them through photoshop, but you didn't.  Nice.

One crit, though.  How do the monks get up there?  Is there a rope ladder on the other side?

well, thanks, I spend about 10 hours on it splited on several days. yes the house on the right does not look too good, I wonder how they keep em up in reality.

It's great. I love how it looks sorta sketchy, it gives it some nice textures.

Looks cool! The house on the far right looks like it's dangling off the edge tho.

Good work
