11 pixels for a guy.. where´s my glasses? thats why i love pixelart! Great Job
True, the pice is really up to the eye of the beholder. I purpously made the person the focus of the piece to give the viewer a starting point for their adventure.
It's a really nice palette but not very legible. I guess there's something to be said for the impressionism of it, though - it could be almost anything you wanted it to. Cool, in any case. I think it's neat that everyone agrees that those few pixels are a person but the rest of it is up in the air.
An explosion? I immediately saw a guy on a dune looking over water with a cliffside on the left in the distance! But I guess i can see the explosion too now that you mention it.
I'm not so sure. The shape of the man is remarkably readable to be so tiny, especially with the helpful cast shadow, but the background, even now that I am told what it is, really just reads as so much noise. It's especially noticeable on the ground the guy's standing on. Even after being told what it was, when I saw the actual piece I thought perhaps you'd accidentally uploaded the thumbnail file there too. Peering at it now I can make myself see the scene described but mostly it's just random shapes.
I think a big part of the problem is the overabundance of texture: nice, distinct, crisp textures that would be wonderful in a larger piece and very readable with more context, that just reduce to noise at such a small scale. In my humble opinion, if a piece is this small, simple is better and renders more readable scenes.
Great website, isn't it? I used to use it back when I was doing a lot of web design and character design.
Some guy in a mount pointing at a huge explosion at the distance, apparently a volcano.
Rather nice, I think.
Funny thing, I knew about these websites but it never occurred to me to use them for pixel art. Sounds like a great idea, and I'll definitely give it a shot.
This kinda looks like a painting, nicely done. My one concern is that the rock face is just clutter to the eye, completely unneeded. It also appears as if its overlapping the explosion(the focal point of the piece).
