it is so well done that I can almost hear the sound of the heavy footsteps. Looks really weighty. 5/5
Awesome piece, you should've gotten first place.
It's a shame you've missed the deadline, you would've won for sure! Awesome animation...
The colors and rendering is marvelous, but the movement doesn't really convey the weight very well. Solid work for 3 hours, though.
the animation is pretty good other then that pixel drop everyones already mentioned. this peice ti be honest made me look at your other peices, and it made me realize ou have an eye for picking really nice palettes.
can't wait to see more peices from you!
Thanks guys for the kind comments and critique. I agree with the animation crit - I'm simply too bummed out to revisit it right now :( Maybe later.
Oh well, maybe we'll be seeing it again in the top pix of the month.
I agree with the single pixel drop. Makes it look like it's a glitched animation. Otherwise, good stuff! Pity it didn't meet the deadline.
I declare it the winner of the challenge anyways
I like it a lot, and I feel your pain! I've submitted at -least- 3 pieces that missed the challenge by a few minutes.
I gotta agree with the one-pixel drop looking weird. This is mostly because it's an obvious clean cut straight down the same vertical line so it causes it to look more like a wagging detached and dislocated segment of the mech bumping out of place from the force of the step as opposed to a slight rotation of the body to compensete its balance being forced askew from the impact. Made a quick edit to show that it looks less awkward if you were to not pull it down at the exact same point. It's not pixel perfect, just a demonstration.
other than this one problem, it is really well done.
That's amazing; too bad you couldn't enter it as a challenge entry :U
If that arm hangin' out the side moved when the feet struck that'd complete it.
not sure about the front of the mech dropping down a pixel
I love the colors! Very blue, yet still looks like metal. And the leg animation is ace. I agree that the bobbing front seems a bit choppy, probably because it seems to shear downward instead of the whole top thing rotating downward. Tricky effect to accomplish, though. Very nice piece, I'm sorry it didn't get into the challenge! It gets a lovely blue ribbon in my mind.
A good piece of work. It's shame this didn't get in for the challenge and I know how frustrating it is as the same thing happened to me on my last piece:/
I looked for this when voting, but I couldn't find it.
I still love you.
Don't be down, whether or not it's in the challenge doesn't matter. Although, I would have voted for it.
It's awesome.
ironically, there's a piece that has nothing to do with the challenge that just slipped in
Yep, sorry, unfortunately it is what it is; these things happen. If this were to be added into the challenge now, it would end up being added into the current challenge (Good Day / Good Night). So yes, nothing can be done, I suppose you know for next time.
I was frantic and couldn't find the option to use as a challenge entry. If you're saying this cannot be rectified because of my mistake. Oh well. That sucks. I'm a bit stressed now - so I'll head to bed.
Pity you didn't make it. This one is quite good.
I say it should get in. Missing by two minutes and a minor mistake is kind of unfair.
Yargh indeed!
Wonderful, but I'm afraid you missed the deadline by about two minutes. I'll add it to the gallery now, but unfortunately it's too late to be added into the challenge.
Small critique, the animation in the front is a bit choppy.
perfect :O
