it's fun how you make this,
I've never seen anything like this
The eyes look a bit open, and I really wanted to try it out, so I made a closed eye version...not so pretty

amazing work though! I like it very much :D
This is the most unique style i ever seen! Keep it coming, I like it!
okay, long post time, hope this all doesnt sound too defensive, just want to adress some of the comments though.
as for the daimonds not adding anything to the peice, well at the very least they atleast do something. It completely changes the aesthetic of the picture, for the worse perhaps but I would still call that adding somthing (even if that something just makes it worse). But well now Im just playing with words. As for it being pointless, well maybe it is, but thats why I dont do so many of these (as you can see Ive only made 4), they are just sort of a fun little deviation from doing my normal spriting.
onek: as for the methods of creating this I will explain the method. I start with the daimond grid which I give a checkboard pattern (as seen in the wip). I first draw the outline (keeping the checkerboard pattern on the outline, seen in the wip as well). From there I start coloring it in. I fill each individual daimond one at a time using the fill bucket tool (hence why I need the checkerboard pattern, so only one daimond gets filled at a time). Essentially Im using the fill bucket as if it where the pencil tool but filling in diamonds instead of pixels. I guess the same could be acheived by using a diamond shaped custom brush in photoshop or something, but I did it in MS paint so this was the most effective way I could think of doing it in MS paint.
does that clear up my methods or where you talking about something else. I dont want you to think Im cheating or something, thats why I actually made a wip this time. As for comparing this to my regular pixel art, of course it will be different because working with diamonds like this is alot different from working with regular pixels so Im going to end up making some decisions that maybe I wouldnt with a regular peice. Its also hard to judge how a peice like this will look in the end since I have that checkboard pattern there the whole time distracting me.
as for drawing the image regularly, then rotating it, I would have to draw the origanal image skewed so that when I rotate it it would look normal (like if you drew a picture normal then streched it for wide pixels the image will look fat) so thats why I didnt do that (plus the only program I have for rotation blurs the image a whole lot when you rotate so I wouldnt want that).
thanks for the nice comments though.
kudis for the awesome realistic look. diamonds look cool, but don't really add to the piece.
this was done much more effectively in your other pieces.
A nice image on it;s own, but personally I find this grid as pointless as many similar attempts. What it boils down is that you could've pixelled the normal way and just rotate the picture. There is no new challenge in it.
Other than that, I like the colors, but I don't like how the hair is very blurry here and there.
thanks for the comments.
skurwy87, I tried out youre suggestion and you are right it seems more natural that way, but for some reason I kind of like her big teeth. I dont really have much preference either way since the change is pretty minute, but I think I will keep it as is.
The best piece of this kind I've sene so far, congratulations.
interesting impressionistic style. although i have a small "problem" with her teeth---they seem too big (too much of white space, you might have darkened the top teeth pixels a bit)---when you squint your eyes a little, everything becomes very natural and it's totally okay like that.
kudos for your patience!
i guess you could submit the third impression, it's very nice -- when finished, it would probably top the rest; still the best of all four.
cheers!
serious this is freaking sick, i would never have the skills to make those pixels and place them so well!!!
Nothing throws off a pixel artist like seeing 'em done in a diamond style. Nicely done.
that grid are too crazy but fun. when i see in frist time i think: "that is'nt pixel art" but i see the wip. Nice job
This is great. It's like you're doing pixel art on the side.
