The square brackets in your filename caused the pjchecker to choke, you pesky so and so. I blame you for my buggy software!
Seriously though, bug squashed because of this. Thanks.
I think this belongs more with metaru's challenge than the day/night challenge, since the day/night challenge was to depict a scene.
@ Metaru: You're right, I won't have the time to fix this up in that way, so I'm okay if it is deemed unfit for the challenge - I'm just happy I tried for it, because otherwise I would have only made the armoured version, and never would have dared stone or grass. I was really taken out of my comfort zone for this one, and I'm grateful for the experience. I'm also grateful for your terrific event, which was so tempting I just had to try for it, too - I hope my guy still counts for that. @ Clovvach: Thank you for the suggestion - I didn't notice until after submission that the darker colours I used on the ground look just the same as the lighter colours @ Robinhood: Thank you! (wish I had noticed it wasn't dark enough...) By the way, until I get a chance to fix the link, the older one with grass is actually here. oh well!
Here's a suggestion. Try to make the light on the night one less light. Try making the colors on the night one in general less light.
i dont think you'll have enought time to actually work on the concept of this challenge, just like skamo said. trying to make an avatar for the fad things and a challenge piece of this wasn't wrong, but ugh, you're really rushing this out and not even getting close to what you should do. and its not just a matter of asking or begging for it to be accepted. it could be easily excusable and you could write a 11 pages essay about how this represents a night/day scene, but still, its just the same character, mirro'ed, edited, and recolored. there's hardly merit on that if you miss the 11 page essay. on its own, the image is just plain and dull.
What about second glance?
And does the description help?
(I can make the ground on the right darker if needed)
at first glance, there is no sign that there's a night/day cycle in your image.
because you know there is not much of a night/day int his piece. maybe the character who's suposed to reflect the nighttime could use colors that actually reflect he's in the darkness, or something.
You'll probably be able to get away with this if you actually place both of them in a scene, since that's what the challenge asks for.
@dogmeat: you are probably right. If it is decided by the powers that be that the scene in the piece (and I would like to think it is a scene, even if a pretty limited one) is too simple, I don't mind - I didn't realize until the last possible minute that I needed more than the characters that I spent the days working on.
@Hatch: Glad to be of service!
