This is the most incredible series of RPG animations I've ever seen on Pixeljoint. You are incredible.
We were completely unaware of this. Thank you, mysterious internet crusader.
The 'halberd' thing is the same as the 'lance' thing - tradition dictates we keep calling them that, lest we invite the wrath of the FE fanbase.
yeah nice animations here - this is how all rpg sprites *should* be animated. really like how the swipe motions arent uniformly round in their arc (they change direction slightly) - probably not realistic but it makes it feel light and energetic. (looks more like a spear to me though)
Good form, excellent execution, wonderful flow. A great animation and seven of them. A lot of work and an excellent outcome.
Pretty awesome!
You might want to not call this a halberdier though, unless you're really devoted to the english translation of the series...; a halberd is a (comparatively) heavy pole weapon with a hook and an axe head used to drag knights from horses and puncture heavy armor. The hook was also used to counter pikes, being able to hook around the shaft and break it. The thrusting point of the halberd was generally intended as a last line of defense if unable to escape charging horse, or if the opportunity to use the point presented itself during the grapple. It is the realm of elite, heavy, assault infantry, while this fella looks like a quick, light (and awesome!) spearman/javeliner. The confusion in Fire Emblem games comes from an uncertain translation/comparison to the Naginata, which is a half-handed, quick, defensive weapon.
I love Fire Emblem, and this sprite is so well-made it looks like an official one.
