Started out as a game mock-up/doodle, turned into this. I kept the white space because I felt that it looked the best this way. Feel free to tell me otherwise though.

Mm, originally it was just the little character on the left and the armor/weapon store. Wanted to do some kind of funky platformer RPG game mock-up thing using more perspective than I usually do. Then I got the idea of making a huge city. And it just grew from there.

C+C would be much appreciated.

Edit 1: Forgot to mention; took me about 12 hours I'd estimate to do; spread around the course of 3 days including today.

Edit 2: Gave some more shading to the Squid; adjusted the curves of the sails more.

Edit 3: Replaced clouds with better ones, hopefully.

Wow, that's impressive! As others have said, the clouds let it down. Rather than have them as just "closed scrawls", I think a more "puffy" appearance would suit, like in the background of NES Mario. This would allow you to keep the flat bottom of the clouds if you prefer.

The sail is ok, it just looks odd because everything else is so detailed. But shading the sail probably wouldn't suit.

I like the Squid :P

Edit: New clouds are way nicer.

Thanks for all the comments and faves, everyone. :)

Edited the parts criticized except for the clouds. I find them ugly as well, but I couldn't come up with anything better at the moment. I will come back and edit it though once I've figured something out.

Wow! =)

Agree with BP: even though doing this 2-color is awesome, it would be even better with 1 or 2 more. Why not try the lil'dudes palette?

Clouds might improve ;) as might the sails. Those curvy lines need to be better drawn.

Superb !

Agree with what has been said about clouds.

Best 2-bit mockup I've ever seen.

I've always enjoyed looking at busy scenes like this. If this were a real game I would totally enter every building, read each sign, talk to every character and complete all of their sidequests. Really cool stuff, although I think I'd rather have seen maybe one or two shades of grey as well. Some things are a bit hard to see this way.

It is completely amazing except of clouds, sails and uhm... squid?! :D

Like what tisc said, its a really awesome piece except for those clouds (and the squid could use a little more work too)
