Thanks, Stitchy!
You're right, some colors were the same. I like the softened lines near the nose area, and the neck ones, now it looks better. I wanted to make a hair shine, a tipical manga shine, but it seemed like plastic. Soon I will upload another face with better anti-alias (I think).
Satsume, thanks for your comment. The idea was to re-design the tipical goody priest face that comes with RPG Maker 2003 default resources.
Hmmm. :'] Maybe I can help. Sorry this is so long!
The piece relies heavily on harsh outlining to imply form. With some tricks and anti-aliasing, this can be changed so that shadow implies the form, which is infinitely more effective.
I found you had some colors very similar colors in your palette, so I eliminated four: white, black, the shine in his hair, and the very light blue you used on his hat band. I replaced the pure white with a slightly yellow version, and used it for the hat stripe, eyes, and cigarette. The hair shine was eliminated because it was very close to one his skin tones. I also removed the shine completely because it spread across his whole hairline, which made it look very linear and the form was lost.
This leaves you with three slots to add in colors for anti-aliasing. The old (top) and the new palette (bottom.)
Going back to the lines...
Yours is on the left, while my edit is on the right. I softened the outlines around his jaw, his right mouth wrinkle, and his nose. Even though the lines to imply these forms are considerably lighter, the implication of these forms is not lost. The new skin shade I used around his jaw is the same color as the (new) lightest shade of his hair. I hope this helps and wasn't confusing for you.
Here's the unzoomed comparison, too.
EDIT: Oh, I also got rid of the dark outlining where his hair and hat meet; it was unnecessary and I added a shadow instead.
Thanks, Stitchy! It was done for a 48x48 and 20 colors RPG Maker face contest. The tech is a bit poor...
looks awesome in my opinion.
