Nice updates! The dual sword at 45 degree angles might get some derision over at the Wesnoth forums both for being copypasted. For some reason the peanut gallery there hates 45 degree weapons.
The new mages are cool, but their heads are a bit too high. Wesnoth's perspective doesn't leave much space for necks, so you should consider moving their heads down a pixel or two. The male mage in the center left especially, his head feels disembodied compared to mainline sprites.
Finally, you could give more highlights. Your units are a lot darker than the norm for Wesnoth palletes.
Update!
Drazelic:
Thanks for mentioning the swords, they indeed looked a bit crappy. I didn't make a dark outline for them but I made them wider and they look pretty good in-game (not on this site though due to the grey background).
Yeah, maybe I'll post them on the wesnoth forum too, but I'm still working on two units to finish the first of three races I want to include in a selfmade era.
Ah, yes. I still have to add shadow, but I'll definitely add these before releasing the era.
Holy crap man. Why haven't you posted these on the Wesnoth forums yet? You're easily above 80% of the spriting population in skill, and you could easily contribute to mainline.
EDIT: Might as well give some technical critique for Wesnothian art. Your swords are way too thin; even the mainline Fencer unit's sword is at least 3 or 4 pixels across. Adding a dark outline to the swords and to units in general will help them fit in with the style.
I really like the medusa unit's bow and her snake part. Don't forget to add transparent shadows- 60% opacity using the official dark blue shadow color from mainlined sprites.
Thanks for the comments.
Super Jamie: Yes, the art was one thing that brought me to Wesnoth. The artists there are very talented. I'm still trying to copy their style and make my sprites fit into the game.. and it's getting better.
Rostii: Yeah, mabe I'll change the staff a bit. I also found some other issues, so I'll upload another version anyway.
The staff seems kinda choppy to me, maybe try making the staff a little thicker, to add some AA?
Other than that its cool.
Dude these are great! I have a play at Wesnoth from time to time and high-quality art like this really makes the gameplay experience complete. Well done.
Nice characters, you should put a transparent background...
This certainly is your highest quality work id say. Though the swords look a bit strange to my eye
