J'aime, very nice work! Really it looks like a real painting!!
ooooooh.... We did. I have a crappy memory. Damn, I will probably not even be able to remember my own name by the time I'm your age. XD
Haha.
Seriously, how come I've missed this!? This must be one of my favorite piece in style and scene, really beautiful. One day I want to paint stuff like this, it's going to be my passion.
Wacky style. I really like it, except for the square leaves on the tree which are a bit too jarring.
My eyes have burst, but I have had time to see that it is really good work
Awesome. I really like this.
Btw... I just noticed. Are you 49?
Your welcome :)
Here's a quick edit just so you see how i would have made the flagstones and the bg. I also aaed the pinkish edge of the plate with your orange and your salmon-pink, looks like you forgot it
And about the bg color, I think salmon-pink is a good way to express the oppressive heat of a summer evening, the sultry atmosphere I (and you may) currently know (THIS is for your lazy-artistic-pedantic argument about saturation and simmering heat HA ).
Thanks guys!
@Manja: grrrreat crit!
I have to agree with most of it. Obviously there are inconsistencies, as I gave a different treatment to most of this pieces parts. And the fg/bg boundary is the main issue, which I was painfully aware of but didn't know how to fix (maybe just go for a darker ground). I grew tired and lazy and decided it was going to stay like that, and it will, for a while.
Mystery thingy is a low stone wall, agree it's unreadable. It was better earlier, but had a persp issue (still partly there). I might yet ditch it.
I tried your bg color suggestion: interesting, but no. I think the saturated magenta works better to convey the simmering heat, along with the white (I had the sky white for a while too).
I would very much have liked to stick to Faktablad's palette. I might try again.
Knew it was yours seeing the preview. You have very creative stuffs on here : the foreground still life is fantastic, the closer tress are pretty well done, their leaves just rock, the cubic colored thingies and of course the whole piece colors are outstanding.
BUT
-the green leaves (?) in the background clearly don't fit in with the rest, their buble shapes and their dithering are completely off.
-the foreground/background boundary is not clear enough
-the different colors flagstones are kinda distracting and odd, you should try to color them with 2 colors at the most, like there.
-the horizontal guardrail is too straight to my liking.
-I don't understant what are those strange cubic shape on the terrace : rocks ? pouffes ? they look gorgeous but I just can't see what they are.
-I suggest you reverse the bg colors (pink and yellow) it would look nicer and less agressive imo.
Edit : if you want to stay with a redish bg color, try the salmon-pink one, it looks sweet as hell
-otherwise this is an excellent piece, just trying to pull it up a bit, until it reaches perfection
