This is my first attempt at doing a graphic remake of a game.  This is Gargoyle's Quest, originally released for the Gameboy monochrome.  The idea was to create a remake in the spirit of a Mega Drive or Super NES game.

Colors vary from an average of about 30, to about 45 on some of the more graphic intensive screens (such as the title).  The font is a copy of Capcom's Ghouls n'Ghosts font, but everything else is 100% original.  I still haven't mastered tilesets, and I have much to learn about doing grass and rock bricks, but the only way to learn is to do it yourself!

I was inspired when I saw another pixeljoint member's version of Bionic Commando!  Hope you like it!

Indeed it is a remake of the very first Gargoyle's Quest.  Most who have played Demon's Crest (the later SNES sequel) will notice Firebrand went through a redesign (orange color, smaller head, less chibi-style proportions).  The screen size was modeled after the SNES format.

One thing I noticed after looking at it from a distance is that the colors kind of clash in places, giving it an incongruous look.  As you suggested, utilizing colors from GG2 (but maybe darker and with more shading) might have benefited it.

Thank you all for the comments....I loved the GQ series and always wished Capcom would make another game, since I always loved the lil' red devil and thought the GQ games were quality games all the way.

I think matching up the colors to be more liek Gargoyle's Quest 2 could've really helped this.

That being said, I love it, this is one of my favorite game series. You did a very good job on those environments, the bottom screen is especially ace.

Wow, awesome. Really reminds me of the original, while still looking like a SNES game.
