Hehe well, it's not that I don't admire your handwork. It's just that some inner areas of the cockpit looked too bright to me. But I know what you mean when you say you're sick of the piece :) Anyways good luck with the contest.
Thanks for the comments guys, it means alot :D
@Gecimen: Yeah, I overcompensated with the dithering. Afterall, more is less, right? My intention was to use the darker two reds for washes and aa alone, and to use the scratchboard effect for shading in a couple of key areas. I'm gonna go back and rework some things, but not for awhile seeing as I'm sick of looking at this piece right now. :P
Using 2 out of 4 colors as AA material might not be the best of ideas. My eyes looked for the darker reds instead of black on the dithered areas on the bottom left and right. Other than that nice forms and concept.
I'd have to day that out of all the entries so far, this would have to be my favorite. This looks more like an actual Virtual Boy game than any of the other entries, the viewpoint makes for a great facsimile 3D. The style of game seems a bit generic, but I really do like that you didn't base it off of an existing game (at least not that I can tell). To top it all off, this just plain looks great!
YES there are 9999999 reasons why I love this entry but the main one is because you went where not many others did. Love it ;D
I quite like how you've used the darker colours for AA but stylized dither for shading.
Although i think there are still some areas that could benefit from AA.
