I view this piece in an psychedelic context, so I don't really mind about the grass' colouring, and the figure's strange outline seems interesting. Although I have to say, you could've pulled off a lot of the technicalites in a much better manner, and with a lot less colours.
I have to agree with grymzy that the gradient effect ruins it. The area that is gradient'd loses all form and structure, and to me just looks lazy, even if you did take so long on it. There's quite a few very odd things going on in this piece, and doesn't work for me.

Very serene scene, nice stylish piece, I think Rifts wanted it to look like a gradient and in this clear and clean scene it looks good. Thats my opinion.

Once again... It LOOKS like it's gradient. It doesn't matter what it really is, it matters what it looks like.
It's not really a gradient, it's dithered, zoom in. There are actually no gradients in it.

Indeed it isn't. Gradient'ing with hand can be called pixel art. But it still has the gradient-look. What is the point of that? The gradient-look doesn't look very good, whether you use the tool or it's made by hand.
maybe people actualy want to take time on their work which makes it more accomlishing for the artists, anyways using the gradient tool isn't pixel art.

Still, it LOOKS like you've used the gradient tool... Which makes it worse, 'cause you spent way too much time on something you can accomplish with a simple click.

It looks okay, but you shouldn't use the gradient tool that much.
