This is fabulous. I really liked the series, so it's such a treat seeing the characters in pixel art (the uncomfortable king's throne in the last one was a nice touch as well). I think his face looks far more handsome than the books suggested though =p
Beautiful work. I can see what you were trying to accomplish - and this shows it.
My best friend's brother is a dwarf and his feet are smaller in proportion than the feet in the picture - I think the feet are fine and that this piece is fantastic.
Very good work. I like the pose as it's not an easy one to execute.
It's the feet. They are way too small, for a dwarf, hobbit, a man suffering from dwarfism or whatever.
Many many thanks for the critique and nice comments!
although it has some downs (not sure about anatomical failures, i suck at that; but the pixel-level execution leaves a bit to be wished for), i really admire this piece. your latest works show a lot of potential, please do more! :)
Looks a bit too much like a hobbit for my liking. Especially with the clothing.
A little originality wouldn't hurt.
My first impression was "big head", but by the time I looked up the book title and saw it was about somebody suffering of dwarfism (and not a dwarf a la Tolkien), I get a second look and now the proportions seem all right. The palette, boots, hair and facial expression are very impressive!
Just amazing. <3
Shading is excellent, but maybe the light itself might have been a little more mysterious.
I enjoy the surprising amount of atmosphere you achieve with a clean uncluttered style,
Normally the ideal for pixelart is to put as much pixel-level detail in there as you can, but I enjoy it more, it seems more focused and more personal when the artist focuses on some key details, it gives me the impression I am going deeper in their mind in the way that particular artist views the world...and I love it more if doing all that it also gives me the sense that what I'm seeing is a real space.
