I quickly had to make a pixel art business card this week in the hope of having one to bring to GDC next week - lets' hope they print in time (and not as .jpg because then I'll brutally murder someone at the printing company).
It has some very serious flaws because I did it so quickly... For example, I managed to turn around the shading at some point. Just try to forget I mentioned that. I hope it's not very visible because I also didn't manage to make the contrast between light and dark very strong... sigh. And I don't like the chocolate bars.
I do like the stratigraphy in the tiles though - I shouldn't have spent any time on it since this had to be done so fast, but in a separate file I have a whole load of different layers and it's very cool - you can only see a little bit of it in the image. It's something I've been wanting to experiment with for ages, as an archaeologist.
Anyway it's supposed to show some of the things I can do - isometric, tiles, buildings, historical detail (neoclassical/victorian architecture) and fantasy (I hope there aren't many games that include chocolateries). I was going to use my Happily work from last year, but I decided it was too specifically in one very bright cute style, which doesn't really represent me; it's difficult enough being a girl in the game design industry without going around representing yourself with something shiny and cute. I think this image is still quite shiny, but a bit less cute at least.
Ah this is the backside of the card by the way, the front is a nice and simple game selection menu with my name and details (I like that side better...). |
Show us the other side then!
