Glad to hear it. And sorry if it seemed like we were picking on you, because we weren't.
Uh this is my last comment on the topic cause in order to avoid all the confusion I just deleted it. So there not harm, no foul.
If they were against the law, yes. You clearly seem to not understant that you've broken the laws of Pixel Joint. As you said "several people are trying to point something out", that alone should say something.
As I said before you're new, learn from it and move on, no point in making a big deal out of this.
Please be aware that PixelJoint is a private gallery that is 'open to the the public' when you subscribe. By subscribing you agree to abide by the rules. Read them ;)
As part of a community all members are free to 'publicly' air the thoughts and opinions, we only ask for mutual respect and a common sense adult style approach to dealing with others.
Hey greenraven about that "Public" thing... Let me ask if you were in public and playing certain songs was frowned upon would you change what music you listen to just to fit into society's image? (I'm really asking)
I'm not taking it personally dude... I'm just saying I like using pillow shading cause people don't use it enough. I LIKE MY WORK TO BE DIFFERENT IS ALL and as for saying poor practice, dude that's offensive if I said I chose to use pillow shading then why would it matter, besides I didn't ignore any light source I just chose to use my own light source... (Before judging really take a chance to look at something before jumping in and saying that's not the way you'd do it, please)
I may be new to this site but I'm not new to pixelart and as for my growth as an artist I'm an art major in college, I think I have a handle on my own ability.
I'm not saying you don't have your reasons for saying what you do but when multiple people try to point out something then yeah of course I'm going to go on the offensive. I mean constructive criticism is one thing, but complete and utter disregard for a person's choice is another.
you're very defensive. that could develop into a problem, so try not to take things so personally.
if a reference was used for this, is should be provided.
and it's not a "style" of shading, it's just poor practice. it's ignoring a light source, and placing colors based on the 2d shapes of the image and not the 3d forms that respond to light. you're free to defend your artistic choices, but defending poor practices or weak areas will only stunt your growth as an artist.
"I don't care to change my style of shading just because someone says it's shaded oddly" Pixel Joint is a public gallery, if you expect to have your work included in the rest of the gallery you should care. Pillowshading is not against the rules, but it is frowned upon here.
You're still new, so it's ok. Scrap these pieces, learn from your mistakes (try not to break any more rules), and start over.
Uh dude you do realize that even pillow shading has it's uses and if everyone did the same thing it would be boring... besides I don't care to change my style of shading just because someone says it's shaded oddly
Yeah I meant to put it in info but since this is my first time using Pixel Joint I didn't know if that would even show up or anything and you can't really call it a copy of anything cause if you compare it to the reference I was sure to go in and edit every minuscule detail and the only part even made using that was from 1 pixel below the hole up to the head.
I think it's not bad work...:)
and it wouldnt be so much against rules if you stated in the information that you traced, more or less...^^
Tracing isn't really tolerated here...nor anywhere else
We must cleanse this poor soul.XD, you have stumbled upon the ancient forbidden style of Pillow Shading.;__;
Kid no one is deputing the rules with you idc really because I didn't try to pass it off as SCRATCH work and as for the Psychology thing haven't you ever heard of sarcastic speak AND AS I SAID EACH PIXEL IS TILL HAND PLACED
@ Elk I appreciate you saying that and not just jumping to the conclusion of "Oh that's too nice for a new member to be posting and trying to figure out if it was a edit". And also some of your work like that Gamabunta are my favorites.
Pixel Joint is not Deviant Art, we have a higher standard of rules here. I'm sorry, but your peices are breaking those rules. From scratch, no exceptions, those are the rules.
As for psychology 101, go back to class, you need to refine your thesis.
That's the deal o.O it should be original...made from scratch, atleast
I'm not going to argue about how I made it but each pixel is hand placed. I noticed you pride yourself as a rip spotter but that aint me so dude take it else where... BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T LIKE RIPS THEN EVERYTHING SOMEONE MAKES SHOULD BE ORIGINAL OTHERWISE THEY'RE RIPPING IDEAS... PSYCHOLOGY 101
Sorry we don't allow that. No edits, no screenshots, no resizes.
It's an edit of a screen shot of the newest Bleach episode, resized to about 25% of normal size and reshaded with my own palette.
Is this an edit of something else? Or did you make this from scratch?
All water under the bridge.
