I have to say the outcome looks good, but i hate the methods you use to make it. For myself i have had to do the same on a paid job, and i dont like it. On my own work, i only use MS paint. But yes the piece is great, and the game is looking very nice.
thank you.
@jal: okay, i see your point. sure, i think im gonna stop publishing these "questionable" pieces in here, this way leaving this account clear of commercial projects.
From a purist standpoint I really hate the method...From a pro job/commision perspective I understand, I do it too. I just think in the PJ gallery its cheap looking.
As a piece on its own and the design itself this like all your work its AWESOME!
Of course it's flipped; when you draw tiles for a game you want to maximize their usage, and thus you mirrorcopy as many tiles as you can. It definitely makes mapmakers happy.
However you made it, it's p nice. The flipping between the views is ifffy but I like the way it looks overall.
Looks alright to me however are those meant to be two diff views or two diff trucks because the flipping is obvious! The stuff changes side. I hate fliping.
thanks a lot for the comments and favs. i really appreciate that!
perspective: sure, i see there are some issues with that -- that's probably because i'm still new to isometric pixel art and still have some problems with setting up the perspective right. sometimes the pieces doesn't seem to fit in well so i try to rely on my eye, not geometric precision -- but it seems you can't trick the geometry and that's what i'm doing wrong :) also, the errors tend to show up only when pointed out by someone else. thank you for that, i'm learning a lot about isometric perspective while doing these and i'll try to remember about the issues you have mentioned when i sit down to the next one.
jal: does that mean you don't like the methods or that you do like the piece? :)
mathias is totally right, this is done for payment, not for sheer fun -- and that's why i have to salvage myself to the 'speed pixeling' methods. :) i do not use black sorcery (better name for 'dirty tricks/tools') and i'm putting a great deal of effort to complete these. since i'm quite satisfied with the outcome, i want to share it with you. :) hope that's fair. :)
Cool piece. There is only a problem with the shadow geometry of the pickup's front side.
In each and every vehicle of this project there are perspective errors. At least to the eye. Where as the pixelling is lovely, an isometric thing doesn't mean that it shouldn't have perspective within itself. E.g. the middle line of the plow needs to be more to the left in the upper version.
Not really like the methods you use to make those but heh, it still looks awesome. Very interesting project, loving post-apocalyptic stuff etc.
Mmm...the blood on the plow is really nice...and fresh!?
amazing, plz finish that game, i want to play it! :)
this is just an alternate version; it doesn't need to be correct with the first one. it's just something more than a mirrored version that i was supposed to make. thanks for the comment, hope you like the piece! :)
why is that lid thing on the hood different in each version? , also its flipped incorrect (also sticker on the roof, front stuff etc...)
