I recently started on prof work as well, but I am not sure yet how it will be improved. The overdose of practise is compromised by having to do similar things over and over and having to make quality compromises because of budget and deadline!

A year of professional work can do a lot for one's technique ;)

My lack of of colour here seems especially grating, and the contrast leaves a lot to be desired. I'll have to revisit it, heh.

It has only been a year! I am sure that you can not have changed too much, which means that there is a lot you can learn from this piece :)

And yes, I do need to get some backgrounds done for this, I'm planning on painting them and I don't have time to sit down and get that done at the moment, sadly. Possibly late next week though, I'm off exams starting next thursday.

Though you should do soemthign with that background, possibly a dithered/linedithered gradiented sky with a sun or something.
