this is my entry pic for the c64 graphics compo at breakpoint 2010, ranked 2nd place.
gfx format is nufli, that is capable doing 16 colors in full resolution 320x200px.
now take a seat - here come the restrictions ;)
- basic color-blocks are 8x2px, 2 colors each, one is defined as background one as foreground
- the first 24 pixels each line are specified as fli-bug. due to technical reasons the color selection is limited and not 100% comprehensible for non-coders.
- between foreground and background layer there is a x-stretched sprite-layer (double pixels), providing 2 additional colors for the fli-bug and one each 36x2px (covering 6 hires blocks). using this layer is tricky, mainly because of color switching every odd line.
- the last 8px each line have no sprite layer
unfortunately there is no existing crossover editor for nufli. so pixelling was done in timanthes as simple png. to get the picture adapted to nufli specs i used an early version of mufflon ( http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=93314 ) for nufli coversion and the crest nufli editor (joystick required) for final corrections. |
I don't like how people have problem with this. sketchy and raw? Give me more please :) 5/5
