To be honest, I was a bit iffy about the concept originally, but after thinking about it, it should be fine. I wouldn't say that this is necessarily a sentient plant - it may, for some reason, create sentient beings, but that doesn't mean that the tree itself is inherently sentient. So, having said that I've put this in the challenge category. Contact me if you want it out again.
Anyway, perhaps they aren't even real babies, they might just look that way in order to lure in its victims, such as the woman here :P
Also, I agree with Onek, a lot of the dithering doesn't actually contribute to the piece at all.

...also you should raise the contrast, the shading on her dress is barely visible for instance... the babys should stand out some more. the trunks shape looks a bit 'sausage-ish' and could also need some aa
Well, as much as I like the edit to the trunk, I really wanted to keep the colors soft and faded. Plus, I think the dithered look works nicely for the leaves and grass. I should've just left it off the tree trunk.
And this was in experiment. I'll probably take your advice for future pieces.
