ur welcome...
there are a lot of sources explaining color theory also specificaly for pixelart, just have a look at tutorials etc
the forum on this site is a very very good ressource aswell.... for coloring have a look at THIS thread for instance.... also very helpful for beginners is THIS one.... theres is a lot of stuff.... check out this site too
about counting colors... u can do it manualy ( as in ur preview....) but thats not very handy, especially if u want to spot stray colors or something like that.... i dont know which software ure using but there are several that are able to count colors... another method is 'the PJ checker' ,done by Hatch i think....
I really appreciate your willing to help me. Well, this is my first pixel art, so it's kinda messed up and not that awesome. Regarding the edited version of this character that you gave me, I'll have to admit that yours is better. Also, the color pallet thing, I actually don't know how to count it. I'll have to study more about it, do you have any websites that explain this further forward? Thanks :D
i think this has potential, lineart is quite nice but color choice, shading and technique are a bit poor..
ur palette lacks contrast, the colors are dull and there are some pixelart specific issues like jaggeyness, banding etc (look it up if needed...) ...
HEREs an edit,..... maybe it gives some ideas... (note: im using less than half of ur amount of colors...)
btw:
how did u count 5 colors here eventhough u listed the full palette?... maybe u were counting the tones... but as black and white arent actually colors it would be only 4 .. anyway.... its 16....
This very website, and its forum. Also that website. Almost any thread here and there has some information, some have lots.
About colors: each of the squares in your palette counts as a color, + 1 for the bg (transparency would also count as 1), that makes it 16.
There is an interesting view on colors in this interview.
Edit: oops, onek was faster! =)
