theres no such thing as a definite rule for colors... but a good palette should cover a wide range of hues and have a lot of contrast with as few colors as possible...
there a lot of attempts of creating the ultimate palette by several people.... take a look at this thread for example... that one it well suited for candyish game graphics.... another realy good palette is dawnbringers palettecreated for the current iso-ology collab....
there are a lot other palettes around aswell.... like the preset palettes of the old 8Bit machines like c64, msx, NES etc
try restricting urself to such palettes and ull learn alot about colors....
no no... i was just tweaking the palette... adjusting contrast, playing with hues and stuff like that ...a good palette is very important in pixelart....
nope, this is straight from me head. although, when i was drawing it, i had a sketch layer. soo to make the actual line art, i 'traced' it. i can see i am not tha good at tracing =(
Wow, i saw the edit. thats amazing. did u redraw it, or put it through some filter?
Thanks for the crit. i need it.
i am using painttool sai for this. thnx for the tip.
will anti aliasing reduce the colours even after ? i am stilll not that good at this. thanks for your patience
the lineart is quite nice but im assuming its a trace since its quality doesnt rly meet with the relativly poor technique.... tracing isnt a bad thing but its not rly considered good form and u should also post the reference...
as Jeremy id say u should take this to the WIP forum, i think u could get much more out of this with some help....
heres a color edit (14 colors)
Unfortunately this (somehow) has 205 colours :O
What program do you use to pixel? If it's something like photoshop you need to be sure to turn anti-aliasing off!
aside from that, the piece certainly has potential, but it's still quite unrefined. I'd suggest making a WIP thread in the forums so people can help you out. Dinosaurs are awesome, and the scale texture's pretty good ;)
wow, that was a helpful reply, thank you very much. =)
