Excellent to hear from you!
I've updated the blurb accordingly :)
Oh wow. Ok I wasn't expecting to see this ever again!
I should explain, I'm 'Archer', or used to be. I drew the original lineart years ago - 5 years?! I can't even remember where I posted it, perhaps it was over on the Gamemaker forums? It's so great to see this again! Neota you did such a fantastic job, I remember you asking if you could colour it. I agree with all the comments here too. You deserve that award!
This brings back many memories.
Of course if nobody believes me, that's fine. Craziness I know. Although, I'm an Illustrator now, perhaps that helps prove my claim somehow?
Mike
Nice one, you didnt overdid it with the dither it's perfect ! I like it how you made the muscles flow in his bodyparts, wonderfull man !
That is So. Awesome. I love the stairs.
The cloth behind him looks...odd. It's flowing/moving (I think?) but the front part isn't, along with anything else that would move (hair/tassle-thing, for one). It almost looks like it's coming toward us, as well. I'm not quite sure. But...yeah, that is so cool looking. XD
o_____O!HSHAJKS!
that is AMAZING! the detail, and his weapon--! the walls and the colors---...just breathtaking and aweinspiring *bows*
The best I have ever seen of all Pixel Art! I'm oddly impressed by the colors and feel of the whole thing, not to mention the pose is amazing and Anubis is my favorite icons of all.
Wait a minute, what are those random lines I see on the wall, near his ear?
Trust me Mathias A LOT of people take shortcuts like that :D few would confess tho lol
it's especially spread in commercial pixel art, since you have to meet deadlines and all that :D.. plus you're not really obliged to strictly conform to classic pixelart techniques when making commercial projects.. even tho people won't let you post it at pj maybe LOL
Whoa. First I must say this is incredibly impressive. Way to go!
But, it's pieces like this that make me wonder why pixel art was chosen as the style. Now I am new to pixel art, but not digital drawing/painting in general. I know that if this was just a normal raster digi painting you could've had a much smoother gradient in the bg. Also, did you really manually aa this!?
I'm just getting into pixeling, but I think what would help a novice like me to acheive this kind of appeal would be to actually paint the image like this with all the digi painting tools and filters in Photoshop, in RGB mode, probably as a larger size. Then scale it down to the correct size, which tremendously increases the detail. Then I'd change color mode to indexed and let the colors get knocked down to 16-32 or so, take that and start pixeling over it on another layer. This way I'd only have to pixel certain parts. The difficult aa would be done and only need cleaned up. Anyway, at this point in my pixeling, that's how I'd go about doing this sort of realistic pixel image. I'm sure that's probably unnacceptable to the elite here, but right now, for me, I think that's a method worth exploring. And I beleive I will, in the coming weeks.
Again, great job! I enjoyed looking at it, man!
Kawichan in this picture (straight from Egipt) Anubis has a axe head on the staff.
Wunderfull,
Verry good job :)
