Regarding the bg: I will try adding a subtle one and see how it looks.

Regarding the banding : I've noticed the banding, but didn't come up with solutions for the affected regions(Ridleys' arms,legs and the horizontal ends of the wings) Let me know if I missed any.(banding has been minimized now)

It's a good piece, despite the banding.

 Actually, I disagree, The fact that there is no background gives the feeling of darkness. I think though you should get rid of the banding!
