Love everything — the C64 shades, the tiny story and the animation. Wel done.
Just absolutely beautiful. All the animations are so slick and fluid. Just damn...
what's the difference between wide and single pixels? this is awesome btw
If you are combining a multicolour background with hi-res sprites (overlaid) then there is no problem with this, damn it's good...
1 week, though I should of finished it a few days earlier. It was for the weekly challenge.
This is really a work of art. How long did it take?!
Your comical style always makes me laugh.
Extremely well done. The animation is so smooth. I'll have to try something like this in the future.
Fucking Cristh! one of the most cool pixel animation i ever seen.
love the pallet, the concept and the animation sequence.
One of the best and the longest pixel animation yet to be seen.
smooth animation. And pretty long on, too. Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery good.
By seeing this image I am dreaming of stepping inside this world as if it's a videogame. The idea of combining wide and single pixels is also inspiring. I really like this piece.
This is so cool. I wish I was the guy who's cleaning the car.
the animation is so smooth in those small characters. It reminds me of Load Runner.
I know it is and I know that was intentional. I just fell like that's cheating. I seriously think that it is against the law to make something so good!
@antymattar: I don't really understand your comment about what I failed at if you already know it was intentional. As for the secondary challenge - that wasn't my concern. If it was, then I would of gone for all wide pixels. Also drawing everything normally wouldn't make any sense as the purpose was to have wide pixel backgrounds and cars, with single pixel characters and effects. The challenge states clearly that it is about using the C64 colours and not a challenge about C64 restrictions.
Also, according to members such as Helm, ptoing and carrion who have knowledge on C64 colours and restrictions, this mix of pixels is possible on a real C64. You can see their comments below.
I know that is on purpose but I must say FAIL. because you used regular pixel as well as elongated pixels. You might as well draw everything normally and ad a wide-pixel somewhere to prove that you didn't completely neglect the secondary challenge but still wanted to enter it. Overall This is still an amazing piece of work.
Great job. Man, this contest has some excellent entries.
Thank you all so very much for enjoying this latest piece. The effort it took makes it all worth while.
@Helm:@carrion: That's very interesting about the C64 capabilities. I had no idea it could do that. (I'm more of a CPC man...)
Coming home to this after a long day of hard work is sweeeeetness incarnate.
I love how the awareness that there is a story comes gradually. Among other things ;)
You're a whole film industry all by yourself.
Holy fuck man. How many first place ribbons in a row do you need? XD
Well, I love this. Best one on this challenge for sure.
This is very beautiful and laboured. You can overlay hi-res pixels on top of multicolor widepixel backgrounds, so this is more feasable than you seem to expect from the c64.
Fantastic! my favorite.
And actually it is possible to do anim like this on real c64 machine without any special tricks ;) which would be kool demo or game effect, even if i would use other colors for You used.
Holy cow this is amazing. The animation is very crisp and smooth!
So funny, nice animation!
