Woderful.
Only thing I'd add is some more color variety in the bg. For example you could have used some of those browns on the ground here and there.
Oh, also, the legs are a bit troublesome. The leg in the back seems bent forward, and the space between the legs is filled with some dark salad thingie instead of part of the lake showing through.
Nevertheless, a stunning piece!
I agree with Randommonkies, the sword does get a bit lost. He also seems to have a point about the lack of hips.
Great piece regardless, the work you've put in definitely shows.
impressive peice!
I see the same issue that Dawnbringer is raising about the stomach area though, I think what it is is that there is no real hip anatomy, his body seems to kind of just flow into the left leg. Also, maybe try to highlight the sword a bit or elongate it into the dirt area just so it doesn't get lost in the details of the plants.
I really like the rocks/dirt you've done!
HOLY ***.. this is mind blowing! I love every pixel of it. instant fav from the preview!
@Dawnbringer
I see your point about the clothes coloring. Unfortunately, I forced myself to do it in under 24 colors, so I kind of had to stick with what I had :p I'll totally add some highlights to the eyes and nose though. I just updated the water a bit too.
Beautiful work and a lovely palette. Although the stomach area is a little confusing...not sure what I'm looking at.
Perhaps some delicate complimentary coloring of the clothes can lift the character out of the bg a bit, and why not some highlights on the nose and eyes from the glow? imgur.com/97Kd5.png <-- Couldn't help myself fooling around, sorry! ;)
Ah, I seen this on deviantart a week ago! Glad you submitted it here. ;)
Looks very nice. Definitely your best piece.
I think you just won top pixel art for the month. Wonderful.
@ Ambient
. . . That.... how did I not even think of that? I wasn't going to update this piece at all, but now I might have to, because that is TOO good an idea to waste. Just need to see if I can do it without using any more colors.
Wonderful work. My only thought is to make the planet reflect in the water.
Hey, man! It's really great!
I only think that the foreground and the background look like they're almost on the same plane. Maybe if you lighten up the foreground a little, add some highlights on the plants to the left, or tone down the background... Also, i think the character waist is a bit off on his right side, with the leg looking like it's smaller than it is. Maybe it has to do with the angle of the short.
But hey, it's just these little things. Amazing job on the details and character. Keep up the excellent work!
So beautiful. Everything is so detailed and vibrant, yet it doesn't take the magnificence away from the character . Very well balanced and one of my favorites this year.
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, in any medium!
But I think that being pixel art definitely improves how it would otherwise look.
Maybe you won't mind some day making a list of all the things you've seen and done that have allowed you to create something like this (it would be as informative as any tutorial) -- although the impenetrable veil of mystery helps the illusion of god-like powers, for sure.
Very inspiring. :)
Cap clap clap! Bravo! the best Pixelart of this year ^^ thanks!!
@SpaceSalmon
That would be my attempt at forshortening. I'm not great at it. Don't suppose you could provide more than "it's weird" though? Also, our left of the character's left?
Edit: Hey, you didn't have to get rid of your comment. If you think there's something off about it and can elaborate I'm glad to hear it. I may not get around to fixing this piece in particular, but it's always good to have things in mind for future endeavors.
Awesome i couldnt wait for one of of ur work to come out hehe nice al always =]]]]]]
We have the new First Place of the Month.
Congratulations :)
Art at it's best. Very well done, and faved without a doubt.
There's this guy on a forum I go to. He says pixel art isn't as attractive as Photoshop art.
You, sir, are masterful.
If only everyone did as much a good job as you with the japanese style.
That is just magical, beautiful scene, it's got it all <3
wow...rubs eyes in disbelief...still there, I guess its real. Great job.
