yea i understand.
its just frusterating when you are legit. im just not exactly a pixel pro, what about this looks reduced? is it the scatter of the pixels between shadow and light, i didnt want to go to uniform because i was trying to effectivly texture fur..
maybe if i turn it into an animation it will justify its autenticity better or be blamed for reducing an avi, lol... anyways i dont think ill do a static image at this community again. people are quick to point a finger here... i could always redraw it and save a wip gif.. if that would help, didnt take more than an hour im sure it would be less second time through.. some moderator feed back would be cool :D

But srsly - IMHO there's nothing wrong with using a referencing image as long as you make it a proper pixel art. Slapping a bunch of colors on a reduced image does not pixel art make - and that's exactly how it looks like.
It might not be, but personally I think it needs a bit more work.
Try to make the colroful patch on his fur more furry, less blocky and make his right ear more standing out. Also the background and the outline don't look cool.

*edit: after doing some research, i found i needed to include any references used. I am not new to art but am new to pixel art, have been an admirer of pixel art long before i realized it was a genre, anyways hope this clears things up*

That is a nice kitten and I like the name, but that's not the point here. It's just that there have been many new pixel artist who just downgrade pictures like that. Don't take this personal, it's not. Perhaps you're a cool guy and beginnings are rough.
I think you should try to make the kitten uniform first and post it here, then start from there by doing the texture. Texturing and coloring is hard, believe me - I know. When I tried to make my first pixel art I made like 500x500 canvas and it just overwhelmed me. :)
I hope I lifted your spirits up if it was just for a bit. Don't quit and just work hard to do everyting better. :)
I like you sippy cup and the plant is cool too. I just don't like this one that much. Cheers.
