Major color edit, tried to give a much more noir and dark theme, before the colors for the backdrop were crap and did nothing for the piece. This looks different on my mac screen (darker less contrast) and my normal monitor (more contrast and color differences), any comments on the colors?

Here is the old version, Ash and Joy are more like the cheery anime's colors but that wasn't the theme I was going for.

Well it's definitely not intended to look like one of the current pokemon titles. You couldn't be vaguer though, it's not helpful to tell me its crap without suggestions or explanation; palette and color are enormous topics, and you didn't even specify in which direction you would feel I should be aiming towards. Personally I think the background is terrible and needs redrawn, and recolored to a paler, white-on-dark-green/blue surgery like room, with the general scale larger to try and give some atomosphere among other things. The two conversation bits could be animated in and out so only one is present and they are only ever obstructing the bottom of the 'screen' at one time.

@Any mods, can I implement these changes to the piece? Technically because of the animation it would no longer adhere to the challenge it was for's rules.

well it just didn't have the same look and feel as what pokemon did. and in all honesty the palette wasn't all that great either....i could understand drawing it in a different style to pokemon but in all honest detween the palette you used and how it was shaded i think you would benefitted with a different style and look.

Thanks for the vote x-death, but I'm always open to suggestions - what all failed about it do you think? The 'isometric' bit around Bidoof is pretty bland, texture free and the lighting isn't great I know, ran out of time to work on it by the end. Once judging is in I plan to tidy it up :)

Yeah, when I saw it first I just wanted to punch it in the face. My baby bro thinks its really cute though and had me catch him a few, he then kept showing me how much he had 'loved it' ie trained it, and I would pretend to feel sick looking at it which he thought was hilarious. Thanks to that I actually like Bidoof now, it's pretty cute - but the humor around it is pretty awesome. This is my personal favorite;

Yeah the xray was a tricky one, how to make it bidoof-like but skeletal, with just the bones the face-defining features of bidoof would be lost, after the judging I think I'll make another stab at that, cheers for the feedback The Fry Bat (and SpazzerEXE too) :)
