Oh wow. I didn't expect to get so much feedback so quickly. Thank you all for your input! Now for a long string of replies:
@Groogokk: What I think you're referring to as a pear was actually intended to be a squash... but I see how it resembles a pear. I never really liked that one as much anyway, so I may replace it. Also, I share your opinion on the apple, tomato and orange. The orange was supposed to look a little more porous, but it didn't really work the way I wanted it to.
@Jeremy: No, I developed the palette on my own. Really, I just kept adding colors as I saw fit and then cut a few back. I had all my colors basically set by the time I'd finished the first 20.
@Jinn, HummingBird, kevink, EdJr: Thank you very much. And yes, these do also draw inspiration from Fire Emblem icons, especially the books.
@KrypToniTe, Buddy90: I agree, 16x16 is pretty small. It's right in my comfort range, though, as most of the sprites I draw are 16x16. Then again, most of my games have x2 or x3 resolution. I think I will try 24x24s sometime soon. It's good to try something new.
Thanks for the comments and favs, everybody
Beautiful icons. Perfectly readable and have a good use of colors.
Try making some 24 x 24 sprites. These look nice, but are kind of small. I know that's the point, but still.
Way too small. Some what readable. These a bit bigger would make a big difference.
{ Very Fire Emblem-ish! I love little icons, and you did an awesome job here!
Lovely and readable :D Did you use a particular palette from somewhere for 'em? :)
I like this, especially the fruits and vegetables. Some minor nitpicks: The pear looks a bit blocky, and I'm not so convinced about the tomato, the apple and the orange sharing basically the same texcture.
These are fantastic.
I know it's been a while since they were posted, but would you mind if I used the books/parchments in my minecraft TP I'm producing?
It's probably best to email me, catch me on the MC forum or text me. I never check pixel joint.
