This still appears to have a lot of extraneous colours - several colours which only exist for one single pixel or so. There's no reason this should have anywhere near 42 colours. Which program are you using? If you are using something like Photoshop, then make sure you set opacity to 100% when working on pixel art.

I've flattened the image and highlighted what I consider to be the problem pixels. These are colours which are unneccsarily close to other colours (some more so than others). Also, the darkest colour in the eye could recycle the darkest gingerbread colour. You could get this down to 10 colours easily.

One component of the weekly challenge is adhering to the set restrictions; this challenge required no more than 25 colours.

I tried to fix it again, it shows for me.

Its says 31 up there. So I don't know.
