really nice execution, this would look beautiful on an old GB, shame they don't still make games for the older consoles :(

Well, despite how busy it is, it's really good. That monster up there is damn sexy. I think the piece would be greatly improved by toning down the detail on the ground so it could contrast the character and monster, but it's still really cool. :)

i'll do better next time =/

Yes, quite busy. Noisy contrasty issues obscuring needed clarity. This game would be frustrating to play. It's mainly the over-done floor tiles.

There isnt enough seperation between the the different elements IMO...

also, Badassbill was referring that all sprites in Gameboy games can only have 3 colors plus transparency. Obviously, this isn't a game, so you don't actually draw transparency.

But if it were a game, the sprite would have to move around. Sprites are ultimately tiles (squares). Which means, you want some parts to be transparent, because your character isn't a square.

If this makes no sense, don't worry about it. People do GB mockups all the time while ignoring this fact. But, if you want to be true to GB specifications, then just make anything that is a sprite (something that moves around) be only 3 colors.

Everyone excuse me,for the noisy,i try to edit for a more legibility, this piece is destinated a forum contest and i don't haven give too important at the errors =P but now i run to correct the imperfections of the piece z.z

Translated: there's a lot of effort in this piece! Bravo! But like the others already said, it's a bit confusing. What Badassbill says is more or less: times ago a color (usually magenta #FF00FF) was interpreted by the system as transparent. So you just have to color all the areas you wanted to make trasparent with that particular color. There wasn't a real alpha channel like in todays gifs and pngs. Gameboy in particular allow to (like the NES, even if with different cartridges you can enhance its graphical capabilities) use 3 colors for sprites plus a color used to represent the trasparent area/mask.

To remedy  to the readable issue you can try using everithing but dark colors on tiles and the likes, to give more importance to the main character and make him stands out more. I made an edit of your piece.

Note that the white around the hud may seems antiaesthetic at first but it helps to read it. I'm sorry with everyone who reads this if they note grammar errors and such.

The way I see it, a guy with a voluminous sword is walking north towards a dragon that has a clock and a radar/minimap on its wings (?), which may all be part of the HUD. On the left side, there is a container the player may open (that's why a question mark is hovering above it WoW style). In the bottom right corner there is an icon showing what kind of weapon the player has chosen, right?

Maybe you could give the player sprite an additional bright outline so it stands out more from the pavement.

Badassbill: where is the trasparency in the character? °_°

Manupix: maybe it's bit confused, but i don't find the difficulty to see the type of the scene ._.

Sprites can only have 4 colours including transparency. Your character has 4 colours plus transparency.

I can't see what's going on, it's far too noisy. Is that a guy with a sword standing on pavement?
