Well theidea is that his right side of his face is deformed and so is incapable of showing emotion. The left side of his face however whilst abstract in shape is wholey intact! So you get a combination of a smile and sadness. I did this to get back into pixelling after a rather long break of about 5 or 6 months.

I also tried something new with the method for this one, I sketched the line art first as opposed to just pixelling the line art pixel by pixel and I also did some shading too. I found out that with this method you're so much less restricted. You're not working on a small scale, you're not restricted by the idea that it must be a 1 pixel thick line.
