thanks, your edit helped a lot, I pretty much redid it using your method.
And thanks theguy too.
One thing I'm trying to do is avoid the "Idealized" human form, which is why my first one had less muscles, 7 1/2 heads tall, etc. Idk. It looks better now. I was also going for a solid outline, but I guess that's not really something that should be gone for...
I think pose is part of it. Try mapping out a wireframe to make sure the pose is sorta natural. I think you had it on a white bg before? How about an opaque one, some neutral tone or another, 'cos with such little room you can't effectively outline without making things seem chunky.

That... was bloody hard to do.
I've fixed it as much as I can using two references:
http://www.idrawdigital.com/2009/01/drawing-the-human-form-anatomy-and-proportion/ and http://www.medicalook.com/systems_images/Muscular_System.jpg
try and see what I did in the edit, if you analyse it you'll learn from it better.
EDIT: BTW, those greyscale blobs are for referencing height.
Improvement, but slight. I'd try searching for bodies in this position. Or better yet, the good thing about the human form is you've always got one on hand! stand up straight and let your arms hang loose at your side. How far do your arms extend? How far is the tip of your finger to your knee? also remember skeletal system, the hips and ribcage are very significant structures.
Wow, that's a lot of wrongthings.
Updated. I used a reference for porportion, but not the actual body.

torso too thin, the legs are as meaty as it is. arms too short, kind tube-y. no neck. feet attach to the ends of the legs in an unnatural manner. head is a ball. can't tell what the stuff on the torso is supposed to be defining.
did you use a reference?
Nice. Its so small and simple, yet highly readable.
