Ah, the sky looks much better now. I really like this, especially the colors. You have good artistic sense. I have the feeling you'll be a really good pixel artist.
I think that the colour replacer has always been a "hidden" feature; if you use the eraser with right click it replaces the first colour with the second.
Forget about time, I TOOK my time to correct this because I couldn't leave it alone :)
I made changes according to all critique (I think), please comment!
@TortBR: Thank you, and I have already fixed the colours, so there is only 11. I will try and find the time to improve the piece concerning all the great critique I've received before end of challenge :)
@Mathias: Thank you! And thanks for pointing out about the aa. I will definetely also try to work something out with the sky, I agree with you that it could be much better performed.
@Jeremy: Great, I've downloaded IrfanView - I didn't know that viewer :) About Paint's colour replacement eraser - that's probably only in Vista version, right? I'm running XP, so that's so same good ol' Paint as in W95 as far as I know :)
@Mister Troid: Thank you :D
Nice dead tree forms. Middle tree is half un-AA'ed. Hmm, that dither sky doesn't sit well with me. Good feeling of desolation, complimented by setting sun.
I agree with the comments below, but overall, I found the play very good, but I do not thinkin my opinion that the last forest in the world would be this way, his view was great, andwork well, the color palette was great, only hope you can *** Message truncated (4000 chars max) ***
I did this piece in MSPaint, so I guess there's no way there :)
But thanks for this link, I will use that next time!
And thanks a lot for your critique! I will take a look at the dithering and see if I can fix something up, but currently this was the "safest" solution - I'll have to practice to reduce the dithering...
I knew the shadows were somehow wrong, but couldn't quite figure out how - I will also try to fix that.
Great idea about the dark color, I will also try that out :D
Use this, only not now coz it's not working for some reason. Specs for any image; checker for checking ! challenge restrictions.
Or in your image software: if and when you make your piece indexed colors, the dialog should display that info. Or use magic wand / magic eraser / select color or whatever tool of this kind and select / erase clors one at a time until none is left. Or better: pick a palette before starting your piece and only use that!
These colors are great! There is not really any use for dithering in the sky, or at least not all that much. Add thin clouds to help with the transitions if needed.
The tree shadows are out of perspective (they should be thinner and almost horizontal) and inconsistent with the light source (diffuse: they should be shorter).
You could keep the darkest color for the foreground tree only and maybe a few details elsewhere, it would enhance the perspective.
Thank you for pointing out. I will correct this soon!
This sounds stupid, but how do you count the colors?
This has 12 colours. I think the tree AA and main hill colours are ever so slightly different.
Yep, good fixes.
