Everything fits within FC palette limitations I believe (correction: it doesn't, oh well.)  If you spy somewhere it doesn't please let me know.

Anyway this is part of my weird fantasy of Family Computer mixed with Neo Geo; basically an FC without memory or processing restrictions due to being jacked up on chips like Lagrange Point, except mooooooooooooooore.

 

Also the resolution is 320 x 224 because:

- Square-shaped raw FC  (and SFC) screens have an inaccurate aspect ratio and the only way to make them accurate is by viewing them on a CRT television with scanlines.  I'd prefer submitting a CRT mock-up as I think it's the best way to view low-res art but I know that's frowned upon here (I kinda get why though, since there's no universal CRT-ization technique and some people are more used to the LCD screen portable era of pixel art.)

- I like it better, and will pretend there's a chip in the game cart that allows it (this game cart would be so big you'd have to plug the system into the game lol.)

There are a lot of errors when it comes to the colourmap restrictions 1 paletter per 2x2 tiles and all that. Also you have some tiles which only have 1 or 2 pixels of info apart from black, which is pretty sacriligious on systems with limited tile resources.

Other than that it is pretty awesome and has a nice vibe. :)

Thanks for the tip about the link.  You're probably right about the 16x16 thing I'll see if I can fix that without messing too much up, otherwise I'll use the chip defense again.

Oh, and you said to point out if we could find where it breaks FC restrictions:
I'm almost sure there can only be one palette per 16*16 area on the background layer, you seem to do this except with 8*8, which results in several spots with too many colours.

I presume it's the Famicom which is the japanese NES.

Beautiful!

There's a little banding top center. The sprites might have more mingled colors, but that's probably part of the restrictions.

What's a Family Computer??
