45 degree lines are 'perfect' lines, like vertical and horizontal lines, and typically don't require aa. it'd be tough to explain why i did the thousand tiny things i did in my edit, if you haven't already I'd recommend reading the topics on banding/pixel clusters/etc in helm's ramblethread.

Thanks guys! Cure, I've spent some time studying your edit and while everything DOES look better, I don't understand some of the changes. I'll study the concepts you mentioned some more and until then, I'll leave the areas unchanged as I feel that would be mindless copying. This is the problem with pixelart edits, heh :)

One question though, why should one remove aa on 45 degree lines?

this is really nice work, but could still benefit from that extra level of pixel-polish: removing banding, removing aa on 45 degree lines, smoothing areas out with aa, etc
