love the lighting elements in the scales and your use of the colors. Very nice dragon!
@all: Thanks guys!
@piiichan: I actually tried it with a more realistic horn placement, but somehow they didn't stand out one from another, so I guess this was probably the laziest solution.
@Adarias: oh, is that what they were doing? That would explain a lot, really. Hmm... I'm on a laptop screen, so that's probably throwing my color selection off a bit. Also, thanks! =D
@Badassbill: I see what you mean (especially the belly, which should really be in shadow). I think I'll leave it for now, though maybe I'll have energy to come back for a second round of revision.
I love dragons, I love dragons, I love dragons...
I like the wings, and nice details.
Much improved and certainly far better than the spriting techniques in the games mentioned.
I think using the same level of highlight everywhere is making it look a bit flat. Otherwise, this is pretty badass.
i'd say this is more heavily/better rendered than BL in that they were taking paper drawings and approximating them in pixel art, leading to a lot of smudgy, low-contrast forms. Your uniform dark might be a bit too much, the arm ove3r the body gets confused, but overall a great job that could easily stand on its own without referencing the square titles.
Excellent shading and details. I immediately recognized the ff6 look, since I use those as my quality and style target for creatures and characters.
The only thing is the back horn, it should point more backwards, since the head isn't much turned towards us.
Looks very cool, and I like the shadows on the spiral horns and on the limbs that are on the opposite side of him that give them depth. I feel like he's leaning too far forward to be balanced, but then again he looks like he's lurching toward some adventurer.
This is freakin' awesome. : O the highlights especially catch my eye, as far as keeping in lines with the FF6 style. Totally rad work.
