I love it, never read any of Captain America's comics before but the movie synopsis and some googling around make him seem awesome, that he's not afraid to use guns is a nice touch/break too! The legs might be a tad shiny but that animation looks great, very pepped up for action and revving to go!
I like both sides of the shield, but the side with the shield facing us is definitely the best to use seeing as it is the prominent signature of the captain. Maybe animating some highlight on the shield as it moves?
I must say, I dont' like captain america, but your interpretation make me want to play a whole game with him, beating up Nazis and crazy carpet with his shield in ice levels. He look so primed! You've done a great job!
( and the shield in the preview is gorgeous )
@Greenraven: well...he is American..<(obesity joke in bad taste...tee hee hee)
@Setz: Yeah, while doing the piece I was having trouble deciding which of the 4 dark highlights to do his arm with. I Coulda' sworn I chose the dark blue or brown as the arm outline, but must have forgotten to save it before I submitted it here.
@BigBro: Ambidextrious, but I guess it may not make sense in a platformer like this. Really, I just wanted to see how the shield looked on both sides, and just submitted both in as I couldn't decide which was better.
I always liked this guy too, he had one of the more interesting costumes, and its hard not to like the guy. Also, great animation, though I do take issue with the dark outline around his arm, it feels out of place compared to the rest of the sprite.
Nice subtle motion. Is he supposed to be ambidextrous with the shield, or is that for when he faces the mirrored direction? If it's for the latter, I would take advantage of more asymmetry with his costume. Maybe he only has the leg holster on one side?
Bah. I frequently see mock-ups and whatnot pixelled beautifully and think, "Man, I want to make that game. Too bad I wouldn't."
Well thats awesome.
But really? HE is your fav superhero? The guy who dresses like the US flag? Pff.
But really, glad to see you back.
@Jeremy: heh, thanks. I think the preview took longer to animate than the sprites themselves.
@Stickman: Blasphemy! lol, it's ok though. We all have our fav's. I don't think of Capt. America as some jingoistic flag waver, but moreso as a character whose core beliefs are more global: ie, freedom and justice. Also, he's not afraid to use a gun if it calls for it, as he is a soldier. The character has grown lots, since his WWII incarnation, and his recent story lines are what interest me, anyhow. At any rate, was thinking about doing some of the other Avengers too.
Per the animation itself, I do admit I am a bit rusty. Idling and subtlety have always been a fault of mine, when it comes to animation. I get so ancy, and don't feel there's enough movement in an idle animation, and tend to "over-animate" sometimes. I think that's where the weird expanding thighs treatment came from. The middle animation kinda' makes it look worse than it appears, in my eyes, though. Thanks for the comment, though guys!
Nice! Though I have to admit that Captain America is my least favourite superhero in the world! (along with Captain Britain).
I would say that his thighs could push out a little more as he breathes/moves down.
WOOOOAAHH thts awesome man i wish i could draw and animate like that
FAved BTW can you make Thor Or any Other avengers ????
Adorei!!!
