I'm not saying the piece is too big insofar that big is bad, just that, in this case, there are no real details in the majority of the piece to warrant the larger size. With little details, larger size means larger areas of flat color that are uninteresting. If you could make the rest of the piece as interesting as the head the size wouldn't be an issue.
As far as the segments go, to read as segments you shouldn't have the lines stop. Because they stop, it all reads as one mass, not separate segments. Though, if you just connected what you have now it'd more look like a bunch of brown tires with a freaky face. It's not easy to create that kind of body without it looking silly, so a bit of a reshaping of the segments would help. And the lighting, reflective light isnt very strong, and it wouldnt travel up and down the segments near what you have - more like just small bits along the bottomish area
@Kiwi: They sure do.
@torqueen, miquli,FiiD:
thx

Thx for the compliment about the face.
About the size of the pixel, I dont consider labeling a pixel as too big as a valid point, about the body as I already mentioned in the forum those are supposed to be segments not folds except for the two smaller ones around its neck, it seems I didnt succeed to depict that, about the highlights on the bottom its supposed to suggest that the light is being reflected It seems I didnt succeed in depicting that either.
Any suggestions or edits addressing this issues are most welcome.
Regarding the pic on the wikipedia link, the only reference I'm using now is the sketch I linked to, the Idea is to get away from directly referencing what I'm trying to pixel, instead I look at a lot of pics of whatever I'm trying to pixel and then stop, wait a while and draw a sketch out of my memory, the result will have the most recognizable aspects.
Other than the face it's very bland and flat. You really should have taken the suggestions to make it smaller from the forum. Adding all the little 'fat' folds and such from the wikipedia photo could make the body more interesting but as it is now it does look akin to a turd with legs. The fat folds you have now are too even and dont behave like rolls of fat. The highlights on the bottom dont make much sense either.
The face does look good though, so it's a shame the body drags it down.
Looks like a turd with legs. Shading on the body could be better but the face looks good :]
Wow this is creepy!! I like the lighting on it too esp. the face.
