I'm definetely back and want to present my new pixels.
I don't do any pixel art since 2009 (or do some meaningless) and this is the second serious attempt to come back to the pixelling. I fall in love with 1-bit palettes and this is a result of this romance ;) - Simple casual portrait, based on the old drawing started 2 years ago.
Dither looks good (I hope), but I still have some problems with light and shading on human's body.
It took me about 32 hrs of joyful (sleepless) work.
Hope you like it.

Now I see shading haven't got this enchantment.

@R1K, this image was done pixel by pixel on MSPaint without any brushes.

I have no idea why my pixels don't getting attention, maybe just isn't good.

Next one will be better.

it seems the importance of the individual pixel is downplayed greatly, and the primary concern is just pixel density, making it more like a stipling form of oekaki

WHY ISN'T THIS  GETTING ATT?

I think it looks good, did you use tools to do the dithering?  Personally I feel more dramatic lighting would be helpful for this sort of technique.  Right now it feels too much like black dots on a white surface (obviously it is).  More areas of black and denser dithering would give some balance or something, umm, Im not even sure what Im trying to say so hope that makes some sense atleast.

I think a discussion on the pixel-merit of this technique is necessary.

That is AMAZING great job I wonder why it's not getting attention.
